A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a crash which closed the A120.

The A120 has been closed in both directions between the Marks Farm roundabout since just before 5pm according to the AA.

National Highways confirmed on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that the crash involved two vehicles and that Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service are on the scene.

A spokesman for the ambulance service confirmed one ambulance was sent to the A120 near Stisted and Braintree this afternoon after receiving reports a man had been injured in a road traffic collision.

"One man was transported to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and care," he said.

Essex Police says diversions are in place towards Stisted and Cressing and officers have urged drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Firefighters were not called to the scene, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

Traffic remains heavy in the area after the crash, with queues building between the Great Notley and Marks Farm roundabouts, and along Kings Lane, Water Lane, and Back Lane in Stisted as motorists avoid the scene.

The A131 towards Halstead is currently unaffected.
