A community hub has teamed up with a national supermarket to help tackle 'period poverty'.
The Witham Hub, at the Grove Shopping Centre, is working with Morrisons on International Women’s Day, this Friday, to offer period pants for women and girls who need them.
The Braintree Road supermarket is donating underwear to the hub which will give them out for free.
The supermarket will also stock and sell sanitary ‘pick up’ packs which can be donated to the hub.
'Period poverty' means a lack of access to proper period products.
Tina Townsend, chairman of the Witham Hub, is delighted to be helping women across the area with the initiative.
She said: “Period poverty is a huge issue for many ladies, and we are proud to be working with Morrisons on such an important project in the run-up to International Women’s Day.
“Ladies who need our help on this can always reach out to us at the Witham Hub for support.
“If you need these products, just come in and ask for Ruby.”
Ms Townsend founded the charity in 2017, It was created to help people living in Witham and the surrounding area.
