Police suspend search for missing Braintree man as 'body found' in Bishop's Stortford (Image: Newsquest)
POLICE officers have called off their search for a missing Braintree man after finding a man's body.
Essex Police issued an appeal yesterday following the disappearance of 51-year-old Simon Needham.
A spokesman for the force has now confirmed their search has been stood down.
They said: "We have suspended our search for Simon Needham, 51, who had been reported missing from Braintree.
"It follows the discovery of a man’s body in Bishop’s Stortford.
"Formal identification has yet to take place, but Mr Needham’s family have been informed and support is in place for them.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious."
