SCHOOL students have been described as "beacons of hope and inspiration" after receiving an excellent set of results following this year's GCSE examinations.
Pupils at the Honywood School, in Coggeshall, are rejoicing after securing a host of top GCSE results, with many landing high grades in nearly all subjects.
Particularly noteworthy was the significant number of learners who achieved this level in subjects such as biology, chemistry, English, food technology, history, and physics this year.
The school said there has been an increase in overall achievement, as well as a rise in the number of learners attaining grades 4+ and 5+ in English and maths.
Amongst those who made great progress and achieved an excellent set of results were Eloise Duffy, who got five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7 and is looking to study science, and George Stark, who achieved two 9s in English and is going to sixth form to study business studies combined English and graphics.
Kieran De Silva got a 7 in English literature and is going on to do accounting, economics and statistics at the sixth form.
A spokesman for the school added: “On behalf of the staff and governors at Honywood, we would like to congratulate this wonderful cohort of learners on their achievements.
“They have been a beacon of hope and inspiration over their five years at Honywood, demonstrating their grit, determination and resilience.
“They have navigated two lockdowns as well as remote learning.
“This is certainly a cohort that very much deserved their outcomes. We are all extremely proud of them all.”
