Rettendon 207 for 7 (40 overs)
Danbury 211 for 2
ON his return to Rettendon as first-team captain on Saturday, Jon Roworth won the toss and elected to bat first in this pre-season friendly played at Danbury.
With Rettendon amassing a healthy 207, Cary Nelson opened the batting, scoring a pretty quick 27 on what was proving to be a pretty good wicket considering all the recent wet weather. Jon Roworth came to the crease and hit a stylish 32 before being caught out by a superb over the head catch by Rayner. Mark Everitt continued from last season with a determined 57.
Phil Everitt came in with only ten overs or so to go and hit a quick fire 38 not out leaving Rettendon with a credible 207. Danbury came out to bat and never really looked like not attaining the Rettendon score as Chris Huntington 127 not out and Banfield 29 not out saw the home side to victory with four overs still remaining. Pick of the Rettendon bowlers was Luke Snelling who finished up with exceptional figures of 1 for 24. Skipper Jon Roworth was quite happy all round with the teams efforts and is looking forward with optimism for the start of the league campaign at Eastwood next week.
