THOUSANDS have been raised for charity as the total for dazzling Christmas lights displays have been announced.
Residents were left feeling merry and bright after two selfless fundraisers put on incredible displays for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
Frank Petchey, of Nayland Road, Braintree, has been lighting up his street for the past six years, and raised a huge £550 for the charity.
Official Helen Rollason elf Molly Watson paid him a visit in December to thank him for his community spirit and support.

Elsewhere, in Hatfield Peverel, friend of the charity Tony Rymill held an incredible Christmas display over the festive period raising £1,526.94.
He has also kindly donated his famous Santa Sleigh to the charity for Helen Rollason to use at future fundraising events.
Community Fundraiser for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Suzanne Watson said: “What an amazing sight the lights have been this year.
“We are so grateful to both Tony and Frank for spreading their Christmas cheer to raise funds for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
“Their donations will help us to continue supporting men and women with all types of cancer at all stages – whether newly diagnosed or longer-term, throughout treatment and after treatment is completed.
“Providing support for cancer patients’ emotional well-being alongside their medical treatment continues to be at the core of the charity’s mission.”
