AN action group is to be formed to tackle the problem of heavy lorries regularly travelling through a village.
It comes after more than 40 residents in Hatfield Peverel attended a public meeting last Tuesday to discuss their concerns about lorries travelling to and from the Arla Foods dairy, based off Station Road, throughout the day and night.
Parish council chairman Ian Goldsmith said: "We really need to stop sitting on our hands, move the thing forward, look to writing to individuals and say this is not working, come on let's get on with it.
"Otherwise I could hold this meeting next year and we won't be much further on."
Residents have complained of the noise and road damage caused by lorries, as well as the danger they pose when trying to negotiate tight corners by mounting kerbs and pulling out on the wrong side of the road to turn.
