A London man faces jail after burgling a house in Witham while the owner was there.
Viktor Nikulin, 24, pleaded guilty to the burglary of a computer and video game console from a flat in Penhaligon Court on September 15.
Magistrates in Chelmsford heard that the resident of the first-floor flat heard a noise in her lounge at 6.20am and went to investigate.
When she discovered she was being burgled, Jonathan Longman, prosecuting, said: "She shouted at the defendant to get out of her flat. He jumped out of the window in her kitchen.
"He was pursued by the police and members of the public, and was apprehended by a member of public.
"He stole a laptop computer and a Nintendo Wii. Both items were damaged as they were discarded by the defendant."
No application for bail was made and Nikulin was remanded in custody to appear before Chelmsford Crown Court for sentencing on October 25 for sentencing.
