A new play area has been unveiled as part of a project to improve a number of playgrounds across the district.
The playground at Rosebay Close, Witham, is the first of five playgrounds to be brought up to date- in line with views of local residents.
Braintree council are pumping almost £250,000 into the scheme which will improve four other playgrounds in Braintree and Halstead.
Conservative district councillor for Bocking Blackwater, Wendy Schmitt, said: "Play areas are so valuable for parents and children alike.
"They enable children to have fun, while developing skills, fitness and how to push their own boundaries within a safe environment.
"For parents and grandparents, they provide a welcome and enjoyable diversion for smaller children in the daily routine."
The playground was opened on September 11 and publicised with refreshments and face painting.
