A 'BISEXUAL pervert' who collected indecent images of children as young as two and posted them on an internet chat room has been jailed.

Edward Edgely was found to have more than 100 vile images of children on a DVD when his home in Old Hall was raided last year.

On Thursday, September 13, he was jailed for 18 months at Liverpool Crown Court.

The court heard that police executed a warrant at the three-bedroom semi on Nansen Close where the 63-year-old lives alone in June 2017 after receiving intelligence that he had posted indecent images on a publicly available chat room.

Edgely was present at the time of the raid and was arrested, with officers seizing a laptop and DVD found in the property.

A small quantity of cannabis was also found, for which unemployed Edgely received a police caution.

Between 2014 and 2017 he had collected 16 category A indecent images, 29 category B images and 122 category C images of children aged between two and 13.

He downloaded the images from the internet and saved them onto the DVD before using software to clear the evidence from his laptop.

Edgely, who had no previous convictions, confessed that he had distributed 'tens of images rather than hundreds' online.

Last week he was jailed by judge Gary Woodhall after admitting three counts of making indecent images, possession of indecent images and distributing indecent images.

Sentencing, judge Woodhall said: “You admitted being sexually stimulated by this indecent pornography and admitted uploaded images to this website.

"You describe yourself as a bisexual pervert - you claimed to be unwell and that you were not in full control of your behaviour.

"Your attitudes makes me satisfied that, as things stand, there is little if any prospect of rehabilitation in your case.

"I'm satisfied that only an immediate custody can be justified."

Edgely will serve half of his sentence before being subjected to a supervision order for a year.

He was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a notification requirement of the same period.

Forfeiture and destruction of the laptop and DVD was also ordered.
