AN overturned lorry is causing delays for traffic using the A120.

The lorry is reported to be blocking the road between Coggeshall and Marks Tey at the junction with Salmon’s Lane.

The accident was reported at 7.15am and police are believed to be on the scene.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene and have reported a lorry, pick up truck and care were involved.

One man was trapped inside his vehicle and crews worked to release him.

He was left in the care of the ambulance service. It has been reported an air ambulance has flown to the scene.

A large amount of petrol had been spilt after the crash and sand is being used to absorb it and remove it from the carriageway.

The A120 is closed in both directions between the A12 at Marks Tey and the B1024 at Coggeshall.

The buildup of traffic is also causing congestion on the A12.

Engineers from Highways England have been called to the scene and the road is likely to be shut for some time.

Motorists are advised to take the following diversions.

If you are travelling eastbound, take the A131 through Great Notley at Panners Interchange towards Great Leighs and continue to the roundabout with the A130.

At the roundabout take the first exit onto the A130.

Continue on the A130 through Little Waltham and Chelmsford to the A12 at Junction 19 Boreham Interchange.

At Boreham Interchange follow the A12 north towards Colchester and rejoin the A120 at Marks Tey Interchange.

If you are heading westbound at the Marks Tey Interchange take the A12 south to Boreham Interchange.

At Boreham Interchange take the A130 through Chelmsford and Little Waltham to the roundabout with the A131.

Take the third exit onto the A131 and continue through Great Leighs and Great Notley to rejoin the A120 at Panners Interchange.
