A nursery is celebrating 14 years of Ofsted success after being rated “good” once again at its latest inspection.

Scallywags Day Nursery, in Bocking, was praised by the watchdog for its safeguarding knowledge and children’s behaviour.

Staff are now thrilled at being recognised for providing good care since 2004.

Deputy manager Ruby Wilson said: “The inspection went really well, we were very happy.

“It’s always really scary when Ofsted come so everyone was really nervous, but the inspector was very friendly.

“We have made a lot of changes, there have been a lot of safeguarding changes so we were able to show all that and the girls did really well.

“She said our multicultural area is outstanding so we were really pleased, it was nice to show off everything and get feedback.”

The nursery, which employs 15 members of staff for childcare, has 127 children on roll and 87 places.

The Ofsted report said to improve, the nursery should expand opportunities for children to use writing in their play and learning.

It should also improve the methods used to find and evaluate the views of parents.
