Braintree’s oldest - and only - comedy club is putting the final preparations together ahead of its summer festival.

The Braintree Comedy Club, which has reached the grand old age of eight, is celebrating by holding the event for the fifth time.

In previous years, comedians who have gone onto be household names such as Joel Dommett, Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett have all performed at the event.

And this year is no different with eight performers destined for big things set to take to the stage over the course of four nights.

The shows will essentially be previews of performances they take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then to theatres across the UK and, potentially, around the world.

And it all begins this coming Thursday, July 26, with Darren Walsh and Edd Hodges taking to the stage.

The Friday night will see Tom Houghton and Kelsey De Almeida provide the laughs while on Saturday evening Adam Hess and Darren Harriott will entertain.

On Sunday, the final night, Trevor Lock and Patrick Monahan will close the festival in style.

Doors open at 7pm each night with the show starting at 8pm.

Visit www.wegottickets.com/thebocking or Stationery Solutions, Fairfield Road, Braintree, for tickets.

Seating is first come, first serve and there will be a bar available.
