Drivers could soon be able to use contactless cards to pay for car parking across the district.

The North Essex Parking Partnership has been trialling a contactless machine at Braintree Council's car park in White Horse Lane, Witham.

Once the test is confirmed as a success, the upgrade is set to be rolled out at all council owned ticket machines.

By the end of July, all tariffs of more than 50p should be available for contactless payment.

The upgraded machines will still be able to take coins and card payments.
