A published author from Braintree has released his fourth book for children.

Over the years Andy Johnson, 51, has penned Jimpy, Jimpy 2: Chaos and Catastrophe, and Terry Scope’s Telescope.

He has now self-published his first poetry book, I’m so Ugly and Other Poems, with Grosvenor House Publishing.

Mr Johnson, who writes under the pen name Jonkers, said: “It’s a poetry book for children so it’s mostly humorous.

“I always write poetry and say I am an author and poet so I thought I best get the book out.

“Children normally really like poetry, I do some workshops with them.

“There’s no real rhyme or reason for writing them, it just depends.

“There are more than 30 and some are illustrated by Hen the Pen, who is from Witham.

“Some I wrote a long time ago and others are recent.”

Mr Johnson will be selling copies at Braintree Library this Saturday and next Saturday from 10am to 2pm and at Chelmsford Library on July 24 from 11am to 12 noon.
