BUILDING work at a brand new care home has been completed ahead of its scheduled opening next month.

A ceremony was held at the Riverdale Care Home, in Duggers Lane, Braintree, to mark the occasion and a tree was planted.

The multi-million pound home will have 32 bedrooms and has been designed to support people living with dementia.

Vanessa Santomauro, the chairman of Braintree Council, was given a tour of the home and said: "I was impressed by the team and the amount of thought that has gone into making sure the building will be a lovely home for those who will go on to live there.

"The setting is tranquil, the rooms spacious, technology advanced and the amenities generous.

"I was particularly pleased to see the care and consideration which has gone into the design to make sure the home is suitable for those living with dementia."

The home is on schedule to be ready to welcome its residents by the end of August and recruitment is currently taking place.

William Campbell, the project manager, said: "We're delighted to have worked on this prestigious new development for Westgate Healthcare.

"Appledorn construct and refurbish care homes throughout the UK and enjoy strategic partnerships with their customers on a variety of projects.

"Being focused exclusively in the care market, we are able to design and develop projects to the highest standards, specialising in this sector allows us to build in the latest innovations and ideas to each new project we work on."

Tara Teubner, Westgate Healthcare director, said: "We are delighted to be opening our brand new luxury Riverdale Care Home in Braintree later this summer.
