AN annual carnival procession which colour to the streets is set to return to Witham this weekend.
The Witham Carnival is always held on the second Saturday of July and this year is certainly no different.
This year, a theme of ‘Let’s Go Retro’ has been adopted for what is sure to be a day packed full of fun.
Every year it is organised by the Witham Carnival Association which works to provide support for its partner charities.
Proceedings will get underway as normal at 1.30pm at Witham Rugby Club.
After the procession there will be the carnival queen’s speech.
There will then be an introduction for the bands which will visit the carnival and a presentation of majorettes, rosettes and certificates.
The youngsters who have been representing Witham at events across the county throughout the spring and summer will also be attending the carnival.
The five children, aged between six and 14 have been at dozens of events throughout on behalf of Witham.
This year’s Queen is Charli Piper and she will be joined by Princess Shreya Rajeev.
Charlie Webster and Carla Nugara are part of the court while this year’s Rosebud Queen is Lily-Mae Webster.
