A woman suffered serious injuries and two others were taken to hospital after a single car crash.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Gershwin Boulevard, Witham, after the car left the road.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.20pm on Wednesday, June 20, to reports of a road traffic collision on Gershwin Boulevard in Witham.

“We sent two ambulance crews, two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance officer and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance to the scene.

“They treated three patients at the scene. One patient was suffering with an ankle injury, another with back pain.

“They were taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance for further care.

“The third patient was suffering with chest pain and was airlifted to The Royal London Hospital by helicopter.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called by the ambulance service to a collision in Gershwin Boulevard, Witham, at around 3.25pm.

“When we attended we found a single vehicle which had left the road.

“A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and two other people were treated by paramedics.”
