A man and woman have been arrested on a suspicion of assault and possession of drugs after an incident at an abandoned restaurant in Braintree.
Police were called to Masalla, in South Street, Braintree, at around 8.35pm on Wednesday.
Two people had been assaulted at the derelict building.
A 45-year-old woman, of no fixed address, suffered a slash wound to her arm.
A 44-year-old man, also of no fixed address, was punched and hit in the body, causing bruising and a cut to his ear.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 8.45pm to reports of an incident in South Street, Braintree.
"The East of England Ambulance Service Trust dispatched an ambulance to the scene where they treated a woman in her 40’s for a cut to her arm.
"The woman was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
After the incident, a 36-year-old man from Braintree was arrested on suspicion of assault and a 37-year-old woman from Braintree was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of drugs.
Both are currently in custody for questioning.
Two police squad cars remained at the scene of the incident this morning.
The restaurant has been shut since January 2016, when a fire ripped through a flat upstairs.
