Crowds flocked to the first ever food and music festival in Braintree’s public gardens.

Festival in the Gardens, organised by the owner of Cool Beans Café, Rachel McMillan, took place over the weekend at the Bocking End venue.

In honour of Harry and Meghan’s big day, the festival had a street party theme, and revellers could enjoy the Royal Wedding live on a giant TV screen in the grounds.

More than 4,000 people attended across the weekend and enjoyed glorious sunshine, good food and music from top acts including headliners the Tom Braggins Trio.

Mrs McMillan said: “It was amazing.

“I have not heard a bit of bad feedback about it so far.

“Hopefully we want to do Oktoberfest later in the year and a winter wonderland festival.”

All of the profits from the event will go to the gardens’ trust towards the upkeep of the community facility.
