The friend of a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car has paid tribute to a “very good and kind man”.

The man, who has been named locally as Daniel Bellingham, 31, tragically died after a motorbike and Nissan were involved in a collision along Glebe Avenue, Braintree around 11.20am yesterday.

The motorbike was travelling north along Glebe Avenue with a Subaru car when it was involved in a crash with the Nissan near Stanes Road.

The driver of the Nissan, a 43-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has now been released under investigation.

Essex Police has confirmed a second person has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman said: "A 27-year old man, believed to be the driver of the Subaru, was arrested yesterday evening on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision, and failing to report a collision."

The man has now been released on bail until June 6.

Lawrence Button, a close friend of Mr Bellingham, has led the tributes to the man who was ‘like a brother to him’.

He said: “I just can't believe it.

“I knew him for six years and Dan was a very good and kind man.

“He loved his children very much and even my daughter called him Uncle Dan when she saw him.

“I was only speaking to him on Wednesday and Thursday this week. We are still in absolute shock and are devastated. It’s always the good ones taken to soon. Rip Dan, until we meet again, lots of love brother.”

Police are still appealing for anyone who may be able to help with their enquiries to come forward.

A spokesman added: "Enquiries are ongoing, but officers are particularly looking to speak to anyone who saw the blue Subaru and blue Yamaha motorcycle prior to the collision."
