All three emergency services have been called to a road in Braintree after a motorbike and a car were involved in a serious collision.
Eyewitnesses have said an air ambulance was also called to Glebe Avenue, where the incident has taken place.
Residents reported hearing a bang before discovering there had been a collision.
One said: “I just heard a bang. I didn’t think anything of it but once I walked over I just saw a biker in the road and police and ambulance followed shortly after.”
Essex Police has tweeted: "We are currently on the scene of a serious incident on Glebe Avenue.
"We will bring you more information when we can."
It is understood the road has been cordoned off while emergency services deal with the incident.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "One crew from Braintree was called to Glebe Avenue at 11:30am after reports of a road traffic collision between a car and motorbike.
"We assisted the ambulance service to make sure the scene was safe."
East England Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
