A community initiative has been working with young people to reduce litter.
Humber Road Estate Community Initiative (HRECI) enlisted the help of the 3rd Witham (St Nicolas) Scout Group to tackle litter on the Witham estate.
On April 28, four committee members, including cllr Tom Pleasance and his grandson, had the help of 18 young people in carrying out a three hour litter pick around the Humber Road estate in very wet weather.
In three hours the group collected 40 full bags of rubbish from around the whole estate.
For the young people involved the activity will contribute towards their challenge and activity badges, for working with community groups and helping to protect the environment.
Equipment was supplied by Richard Bass and his team at Braintree Council.
