A motorcycling club has launched a junior academy for youngsters looking to get their first taste of life on two wheels.

Braintree and District Motorcycle Club, which was founded in 1946, is now able to officer children between four and 12 the chance to learn on three state-of-the-art electric machines, with boots and helmets to suit all ages.

The club also welcomes riders up to the age of 16 who have their own bikes.

A spokesman for Braintree and District Motorcycle Club said: "We have several private, local venues at our disposal, thanks to the generosity of local land owners.

"For just £10 per entrant they will receive entry to one of our mini bike trials, the use of one of our new electric bikes, plus all the safety equipment needed.

"A briefing from one of the clubs experienced riders, a finishers certificate and most importantly lots and lots of fun.

"This is a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and meet other children."

One event takes place per month. Numbers are limited and so booking is essential.
