A relieved mum has expressed her delight after her triplets will get to start at the same school in September.

Julia Perkins was initially told her four-year-old sons Oliver, Benjamin and Noah could not be accommodated at the same school.

It would have left her facing a four mile trip between Notley Green Primary School and Cressing Primary School every day.

However after Mrs Perkins told her story in last week’s Times, Notley Green bosses managed to find places for all three at the Blickling Road school.

Mrs Perkins said: “I am very happy that the school was able to help.

“I have had lots of support and positive comments from the community since telling my story, which has been really nice.

“I would have been happy with any of the schools, I just wanted them to be in the same one.”

Facing the prospect of a lengthy appeal process, Mrs Perkins and husband Daniel were concerned Oliver, who has additional educational needs, would suffer.

The Government’s Schools Admissions Code states triplets should not be split between schools against their will, and Notley Green later admitted it was not aware accepted youngster, Benjamin, was one of three.

Mrs Perkins said: “If they had known they would have happily offered them all places, but they have no way to tell.

“I had a meeting with the head and they are able to get above their admissions criteria to accommodate us, meaning no other children will lose their places.

“Having spoken to the school about Oliver, they appreciated they are going to need some extra measures in place, this gives them the chance to do that.”

Clare Russell, headteacher of Notley Green, said: “As soon as we were made aware of the issue we worked with the parents to find a solution.

“We are delighted to be welcoming all three boys to the school in September.”
