A driver has been taken to hospital following a crash along a village road. 

Paramedics were called to Duck End in Finchingfield at 7.42am this morning following reports of a crash between two cars.

The fire service were also called to help one of the drivers trapped in their car.

Two people were treated at the scene, with one of them later taken to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment.

The road was closed in both directions while the emergency services attended the incident.

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance crew, three rapid response vehicles, one ambulance officer and Hazard Area Response Team (HART) Vehicle were dispatched to an incident involving two cars.

"Age and sex of the two people are unknown."

The ambulance service also said the condition of the person taken to hospital was unknown.

The incident is understood to have taken place near the junction of the B1053.

The road has now reopened in both directions.
