A desperate mother has pleaded with a housing company to do something about mould in her property, before her young son becomes seriously ill.

Morgan Robertson, 19, lives with 14-month old son LJ and partner Samuel Parkin in a one bed property in College House, High Street, Braintree.

The sheltered living accommodation has become covered in mould after a series of leaks from the property above.

Miss Robertson has been hospitalised in the past two weeks after complaining or chest pains, something she believes was caused by the state of the property.

“We had a written note from the hospital saying we are all at high risk, but we have been told this is liveable and there is nothing else they can do about it,” she said.

“We have technically had no heating for the past four or five months and we’ve been forced to use plug in heaters.”

Miss Robertson is most concerned about LJ becoming ill, after discovering mould growing underneath his cot.

“I want them to do something instead of just telling us it is liveable,” she said.

“If we leave, the next family that comes in will get as sick as we did.”

A spokesman for Family Mosaic said: “We have been in contact with the family since this was first reported, and have visited the property several times to carry out the necessary repairs and investigate the cause of the damp. Our contractor will be attending again to complete the works. We understand that this is a distressing situation and will continue to support the family to resolve the problem.”

Family Mosaic is a housing association and sheltered housing supplier.
