A travel agents in Halstead has launched an Easter campaign to help children in care.

Staff at Premier Travel, in High Street, Halstead, are appealing for donations of chocolate eggs and other treats to give to disadvantaged kids.

Customers are being encouraged to visit the branch to drop off donations until Saturday, March 24, when a representative from social services will collect the gifts ready for delivery.

The team wants to beat last year's total of 150 Easter gifts this campaign.

Sarah Colson, branch manager, said: “We’ve been running an Easter appeal for children in need for several years now, and each year it has gone from strength to strength.

"Youngsters living in care don’t receive many treats at special occasions such as Easter, so we want to put a smile on their faces and let them know that someone is thinking of them.

“If you are able to donate an egg or Easter treat – no matter how big or small – it will be gratefully appreciated.”
