THE PREVIEW: Billericay Town haven’t got beyond the first round of the FA Trophy since 2005, where they reached round three before exiting to Exeter City in a replay.

The prospect of facing higher ranked Havant & Waterlooville will not daunt Glenn Tamplin’s men, having dispatched of Hungerford Town (in the FA Cup and FA Trophy) and Brackley Town (FA Cup) already this season.

Havant are currently fourth in the National League South and are among the favourites for honours this season, despite only winning promotion from the Isthmian Premier League last term.

The visitors have not lost a game since October 14 – aside from the Hampshire Senior Cup – and will fancy their chances.

In Jason Prior they have the league’s second highest marksman (12 goals), with Wes Fogden, Rory Williams and Alfie Rutherford all threats in forward areas.

THE INSIGHT: “We wanted to play at Brightlingsea on Tuesday but couldn’t because of the weather,” said assistant manager Harry Wheeler. “But it is not so bad as the lads could have done with the rest. We did light training instead but physically the break will have done them good.

“We are confident ahead of this match but they are a good side. We will give them the respect they deserve but we will be determined and try to progress.

“We will go for it. We always do as much preparation as we can and we will be ready for them.”

THE TEAM NEWS: Kevin Foley and Jamie O’Hara remain sidelined. Billy Bricknell could be involved.
