JAKE Robinson scored his 31st goal of the season as Billericay Town continued to keep the heat on Isthmian Premier League leaders Dulwich Hamlet.

Billericay defeated Staines on their travels to maintain their excellent unbeaten league form on the road.

It was second against third in the league and Billericay were in desperate need of more points having dropped two of them unexpectedly in the week.

The visitors felt they should have had an early penalty after Sam Deering went down in the penalty area but the referee was unmoved.

Staines' Liam Driscoll made his first save of the afternoon on 10 minutes, as he comfortably fielded Joe Kizzi’s header.

Billericay were in charge but were struggling to truly test Driscoll, captain Dean Inman heading at goal twice although both were easily fielded by the stopper.

But it was to be a landmark moment for Robinson on the half hour. The striker crashed home from 10 yards to reach 30 goals for the season, and was consequently yellow-carded.

Danny Waldren hit the crossbar on the stroke of half-time before Billericay’s lethal marksman got his second.

Good work from substitute Louie Theophanous saw a ball fed through to Robinson who tapped home.

The striker missed a chance to make it six hat-tricks for the season as several chances came and went, while Staines saw Tommy Brewer dismissed.

But it was to be another good day for Billericay.
