Rivenhall's popular Christmas grotto events returned bigger and better than ever.

About 150 children visited Rivenhall Village Hall on Friday for the event, organised by Rivenhall Playing Fields Association.

The event is paid for by a small charge at the door as well as fundraising events throughout the year run by the association.

Children who entered the grotto got the chance to meet Father and Mummy Christmas and explore the winter wonderland within. A competition to count the 53 candy canes inside also took place.

Ruth Hassey, owner of Riventots Pre-school, said: “The committee has really supported the pre-school and we have a great relationship with them so we got involved.

“It was absolutely fantastic. The committee do it to put something back into the community.

“Children of all ages came. We had babies come and lots of school children as well.”
