A new cafe offering Turkish favourites and all day breakfasts has opened in Braintree.

Mem Has Cafe opened in Market Place, Braintree, on Tuesday after an extensive refurbishment of the premises, which used to be home to The Orange Tree.

Hasan Atestemur, of London, is the man behind the new business and has taken on five staff.

He said: “This is my first business but I am working with very professional staff who have a lot of experience in catering.

“I was looking at various locations around Essex. We saw this unit and it is close to the very centre of town.

“There is lots going on around here with pubs and shops and it is a busy and lively location.”

All of the food will be on offer is made on the premises and the menu includes everything from sandwiches and salads to grilled meat and steaks.

All menu items are also available as takeaway.

Mr Arestemur said: “I think the menu is quite different to what is already available in the area.

“Everything is made fresh every day and we serve a very trusted brand of coffee, Illy, who train the staff how to make it properly.”
