BILLERICAY Town are into the Essex Senior Cup quarter-finals following a comfortable 3-0 win over Basildon United.
Town were pushed all the way by the Essex Senior League Bees, who put in a strong second half show with goals from Danny Waldren, Jake Robinson and Nicky Wheeler enough in the end.
The hosts dominated the early exchanges without forcing the breakthrough - Waldren, Dan Walker and Sanchez Watt threatening.
Joe Kizzi was denied his first goal for the club by the offside flag on 18 minutes before Town spurned a golden opportunity.
Awarded a penalty, Watt's kick was expertly saved low to his right by Connor Wheatley.
Goalless at the break, Robinson and Wheeler were introduced but it was almost Basildon that grabbed an unlikely opener.
A goal was ruled out for offside before the first goal arrived with 20 minutes remaining.
Waldren took aim from long range and found the corner, with the lead doubled five minuets later.
A Waldren free-kick was saved by Wheatley only for Robinson to tuck home the rebound.
Wheeler tucked home a third with five minutes to go - his first for the club - to end Basildon's resistance.
Elsewhere, Southend Manor were well beaten by Harlow Town this week, going down 4-0 on the road.
