Drivers could face disruption as one of the main roads in and out of Braintree is set for roadworks.

Essex Highways will be carrying out work to pavements on Coggeshall Road from this week using stop/go signs to manage traffic.

Work will be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm and one lane of the road will be closed.

It will carry on until February, stopping during the peak Christmas period.

A spokesman for Essex Highways said: “Work will take place on the pavement in Coggeshall Road to patch and even out the walkway.

“One lane of traffic will be closed in the immediate area where work is taking place with ‘stop-go’ boards being used to allow traffic to flow.

“This work will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm to avoid peak traffic times, work will also halt completely between 27 November 2017 and early January 2018 to allow for busier Christmas traffic. On Sundays four-way traffic lights will used from 9am.”
