An afternoon of ghoulish activities is taking place at a children's centre in Braintree.

Greenfields Community Housing's Halloween Fright Fest takes place on Friday from noon until 2pm at Carousel Children's Centre, in Chapel Hill, Braintree.

Forming part of the housing association's Make a Difference Days, celebrating Greenfields' tenth birthday, festivities include a competition to find the creepiest costume, gruesome games, facepainting and a Halloween treasure hunt.

Arron Samson, Greenfields’ neighbourhood manager, said: "These events give us the chance to support our residents in a variety of ways – be it to tidy their gardens, have a good clear-out, get to know their neighbours or just keep their children busy in the holidays.

"We also want to draw attention to all the services we and our partners offer, so they know that we’re there when they need us.”

Entry to the event is via a donation of at least 50p per child, with the money collected going to charity.
