A JUNIOR football team is celebrating after securing a £750 donation to fund a new team kit.

Witham Town Youth Football Club under 13s earned the cash from Permission Homes Essex, as part of the builder’s healthy communities project.

Club spokesman Jerry Young said: “A new kit will certainly give the team a real boost and prepares the players for the season ahead. The donation is greatly received and means a lot to everyone associated with the team.

Witham Town FC is a real grass roots football club in the community and it’s brilliant to say Persimmon Homes Essex have played a part in that.”

Phil Standen, managing director of Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Witham Town FC.

“The club means so much to the community and we’re pleased to be able to fund their new kit ready for what we hope will be a successful season for the under 13s.

“Our new healthy communities initiative is aimed at creating a lasting legacy for young people who love sport.”
