A company has applied to build a barn like building to house supported living units.

Zero Three Care Homes LLP, which has schemes in Silver End, Southminster, Cressing, Thaxted and Hatfield Peverel, hopes the application will provide six units on its site in Wickham Bishops Road, Hatfield Peverel.

If successful the application, submitted on September 11, would see the property built on the applicant’s Massenet care home site.

The application said: “Zero Three Care Homes LLP operate ten residential care facilities across Essex.

“The company has been providing care and accommodation of a very high quality since 2004.

“Their core business is to provide homes and care services to meet the needs of adults with learning disabilities.

“Demand for first class accommodation coupled with care continues to grow in the region.

“The applicants receive a steady flow of referrals from Essex County Council and other sources to provide homes for children with care needs, who on turning adults, leave more institutional facilities, requiring greater independence and a care supported home of their own.”

The application would see a collection of old agricultural barns on the Massenet site demolished and replaced with a similar structure.

Each unit would have its own front door to give residents their independence and a care supported home of their own.

The application said: “There are of course significant benefits in the delivery of this.

“It will not only provide housing, but specialist housing in a sector for which there is continued demand.

“There are no obvious sources of harm resulting from these proposals that could be said to significantly or demonstrably outweigh these benefits.”
