A MOSQUE is hosting an open day in order to build bridges between communities.

Al Falah Braintree Islamic Centre will open on Saturday, with the event aimed at non-Muslims to dispel some of the myths and stigma associated with Muslims.

Kashif Ahmad, Amam at the centre in Silks Way, said: "The aim of the event is to build bridges between communities and answer people's concerns regarding Islam.

"It will be a good opportunity to see inside a Mosque, find out what happens behind the four walls.

"It will also be an opportunity to meet practising Muslims from Braintree."

On the day there will also a bouncy castle, balloon's, hand mendi painting, refreshments, food and much more.

Mr Ahmad added: "We hope that the community will join us on this prestigious day for some tea and cakes and maybe a samosa. 

"Allowing us to promote a better understanding of the Islamic faith during a time of so much misinformation and to maintain community cohesion, peace, harmony and goodwill between the various communities in our  great town."

The Mosque will open on Saturday from 11am till 5pm.
