A Chelmsford ambulance call handler has been shortlisted for an award after taking a call from a woman who had a breeched labour.

Emma Farkas is one of three call handlers who work for East of England ambulance service who is up for the UK Dispatcher of the year award along with Liam Harcourt from Norwich and Jaymie-Lee Morgan from Beford.

The award is for ambulance workers who deal with 999 calls and recognises individuals who have made the most significant contributions to further values and the mission of the academy through personal action

Emma was nominated for the prestigous award after dealing with an incident where a woman had a breeched labour. This is where the baby a woman is about to give birth to facing feet first out of the womb and normally results in caesarean delivery.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “Congratulations to Emma, Liam and Jaymie-Lee for being shortlisted for this prestigious award. The three nominees will attend the awards ceremony in Cardiff on Wednesday September 20 with other finalists from across the country, with the hope of being crowned winner.
