A leisure centre is inviting residents to take part in a dementia awareness day.
In support of World Alzheimer's Day, the event takes place at Witham Leisure Centre, in Spinks Lane, between 11.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday.
A range of activities, including singing, swimming and dancing, will be on offer at the event, organised as part of a partnership between Braintree District Dementia Action Alliance, Sport for Confidence, Fusion Lifestyle and Braintree Council's Livewell campaign.
Kryshia Fuller, community development officer at Braintree District Dementia Action Alliance, said: "There are thousands of people in Essex affected by dementia but the good news is that there is a support network in place.
"The event at Witham Leisure Centre will provide a central location where anybody wanting to find out more about the condition and the support available can come, gather information, and take part in a number of activity sessions, all free of charge.”
There is no need to book any of the activities and those wanting to take part should turn up on the day.
