Our reporter Joseph Laws, writing for the Braintree and Witham Times, is discovering businesses around the Braintree district. He interviews business owners and finds out what makes their businesses special and unique.

A WORKING day in the office can be active.

Staff are kept busy on the brain for hours on end, yet office workers get little to no physical exercise a day.

The lack of activity makes workers not only less productive, and encourages a lifestyle which is damaging in the long term.

A man who understands this is Luke Nash.

Along with his friend Dean Stonestreet, he founded Indoor Revolution, an indoor cycling centre in Braintree, which offers a pay as you go service with no contract.

He hopes to attract busy people, especially office workers, to join his exercise classes throughout the week.

He said: “People are getting more and more flexible in what they do.

“Gyms and other exercise outlets put many customers off because they are scared of commitment.

“With other exercise outlets, they don’t accommodate for busy people, which is most of us these days.

“They make you sign a contract to continue using the facilities.

“In real terms, this meansyou’re obliged to carry on paying for the year.

“This is for something which you may not use because you’re so caught up in other things.

“We didn’t like the way this was being done.

“Busy people wanted something more flexible and more suited to them, and to pay for the hours they actually do.

“So we created Indoor Revolution in 2013.

“This allows people to have a service with no contract and something where people could pay as you go, and that is how Indoor Revolution was born really.”

The site, located along Silks Road in Braintree, is open for various classes which can be booked and purchased online.

It is one of the district’s hidden gems.

The exercise bikes themselves are Watt Bikes, used by Team GB cycling team in training for the Olympics.

Indoor Revolution has 14.

The bikes can adapt for different scenarios, from a 200 metre sprint to a 40k time trial.

Luke said: “Now it’s no longer any secret that pretty much the best athletes from a wide cross section of disciplines, use the Watt Bike as a key tool to enhance performance.

“Most premiership football clubs have a fleet of Watt Bikes, rugby internationals, F1 drivers, cross fit athletes and boxers.

“We’ve got two big screens which display your stats in real time.

“We’re inviting everyone to sign up online and come down.
