A VICIOUS thug who attacked an unconscious reveller outside a Colchester nightspot has mocked his jail time as a “great holiday”.

Zak Farmer was released from prison this week after serving eight months of an 18-month sentence for punching and kicking a defenceless man on the ground after his pal William Atkins had knocked him out with a single punch.

The victim suffered a bleed on the brain which required three days of hospital treatment.

A taxi driver’s dash cam footage had captured the brutal assaults outside the former Missoula bar, in Head Street, last September.

Now back home, Farmer is relishing his freedom with Subway sandwiches and gym visits and has been sharing his thoughts publicly on Facebook.

Adopting a power pose, the 21-year-old, of Howard Close, Braintree, wrote: “Fresh home, I had a great holiday.

“No more playing games, I was down but now I’m up! #3upBilly Atkins. My right hand man, home soon bro!”

The right-hand man being referred to is co-defendant Atkins, of Langham Drive, Clacton, who is serving a three-year sentence for two counts of ABH and breaching a suspended sentence for his part in the 3am attack in September last year.

Now Colchester’s safety boss has called for Farmer to banned from the town.

Mike Lilley (Lab) said: “It just goes to show the first sentence was too lenient because this person has learnt nothing whatsoever.

“The worry is he’ll go out once again with his so-called friend and harm some other innocent person, which could have more serious consequences.

“I will be writing to the chair of Colchester Pubwatch and asking for this individual to be banned from every licensed premises in the borough.

“He’s not fit to be allowed in our town and Pubwatch did speak about setting up a system to ban people who had been convicted of fighting in the town centre.

“I’m just astonished. The sentence was too light considering he was already on a suspended sentence.”

MP Will Quince added: “It’s really disappointing when someone has served prison time and doesn’t show any remorse for what they’ve done.

“As much as I hope this individual will never reoffend again, if he does, I’d like to think these comments mocking the judicial system, and his time in prison, will be shown to the judge before any future sentencing to show the contempt he appears to display towards them both.

“Being in prison is supposed to be a time to protect the public, but to also reflect on what you’ve done and hopefully, put you off doing it again.”

Farmer had seven previous convictions for 13 offences before the attack.
