A HIGHWAYS maintenance worker lost his driving licence and could lose his job for being over the limit.

Adam Davies mixed medication and alcohol before getting behind the wheel of his Land Rover on August 6.

It was in the early hours of the morning when he crashed into the back of another car in Rosemary Road, Clacton.

The dad-of-two, 35, was 20mcgs over the legal limit of 35mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. He admitted the offence.

The other driver involved described Davies’ car accelerating towards his before thumping into the back of it, Colchester magistrates heard.

At first he was willing to accept £200 for any damage but after smelling the alcohol on Davies’ breath, he called the police.

Peter Young, mitigating, said his his client has mental health difficulties including post-traumatic stress disorder.

He said: “In the days before, he had had his first follow-up appointment which unfortunately opened up a lot of the problems he was suffering from.

“He had three to four drinks but can’t remember what.”

Davies of Tewkesbury Road, Clacton, may lose his job in Cambridge as magistrates banned him from driving for 14 months. He must pay £465 costs.
