STANSTED has been ranked one of the worst airports in the country for customer satisfaction, a survey has found.

The airport was part of an online survey carried out by the consumer group Which? where it scored a 38% customer satisfaction score.

Which? members were asked to complete an online survey about their experiences of flying from a UK airport in the past year.

Categories surveyed included queues at check-in, bag drop and airport security, baggage reclaim, seating, food outlets and passport control.

Customer scores in the survey were based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the airport to a friend.

Stansted Airport came second to the bottom to Luton Airport, with London City and Southend at the top of the table.

A spokesman from Stansted Airport, Melvyn Nice, denounced the survey from the consumer group.

Melvyn said: "The Which? survey polled just 558 people out of more than 25m passengers who have used the airport in the last year.

“Independent passenger surveys conducted at the airport show customer satisfaction ratings have improved over the last four years even though Stansted has added nearly eight million passengers during the period.

"We now serve 25 million passengers a year across 190 destinations.

“A number of projects around the airport are underway to provide additional check-in capacity, add more seating in the departure lounge and significantly increase car parking capacity.

"This work will help improve customer service and add vital capacity during the period in advance of the new arrivals building becoming operational and the subsequent full transformation of the existing terminal.”
