Residents are being offered the opportunity to raise their crime and policing concerns at a special meeting in Halstead on Thursday.

Police and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst will be holding a 90 minute meeting for people in the town and around the district.

The aim is to discuss any issues facing the area, what is happening to policing in general and what the plans are for the future.

A lack of police patrols or presence, residential burglaries and anti-social behaviour are among the issues expected to be raised by residents.

There will also be a briefing on the state of crime in the area.

A spokesman for his office said: “ Details of current crime trends and ongoing operations will be made available both before and at the meeting.

“Anybody going along will have the opportunity to put their questions and concerns to the panel.”

Also on the panel will be Hr Hirst’s deputy Jane Gardner, Chief Insp Craig Carrington, district commander for the Braintree district and Andy Wright, chairman of the community safety partnership.

Mr Hirst is the county’s second commissioner and a Conservative.

He has also recently been given the role of fire commissioner, the first in the country.

The meeting will begin at 6.30pm on Thursday and is expected to last until 8pm.

It is open to everyone who wants to attend and find out more. It is due to be held at Queens Hall, Chipping Hill, Halstead, The hall has been closed for renovation works but is partially opening for the meeting.
