FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a barley fire in White Notley.
Four crews from Witham and Braintree were called to Pole Lane yesterday at around 4.05pm.
On arrival, fire crew reported that roughly three hectares of barley wheat was alight.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire completely by 4.49pm but remained at the scene for a further hour to dampen down any hotspots.
The cause of the fire was decided as unknown.
