A COMMUNITY came together to remember two popular rugby players.
The Matthew New Memorial Sevens took place at Braintree Rugby Club on Saturday, in aid of Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and Bloodwise.
Created by Ruan Holt, the tournament remembers Matthew New and Matt ‘Maff’ Wadforth - two former club favourites who sadly passed away.
Mr Holt said: “It was great to see everyone come together for the event.
“The whole day was about supporting rugby and remembering two great people who were or would have been stalwarts of the club.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who volunteered.”
The tournament was won by Stunt Sevens, who beat Honey Badger Sevens in the final.
