THE annual Four Colnes Horticultural show will take place next week.

A tug of war, a vegetable and flower competition, along with a mobile petting zoo will all come to the grounds, organised by The Four Colnes Horticultural Society.

The Earls Colne Recreation Ground will host the event on Saturday August 12 between 1pm and 4.30pm.

James Cleverly, member of Parliament for Braintree is said to be attending the event.

The show was been running for over 100 years, and this year the show will continue for 136 years.

A spokesman from the Four Colnes Horticultural Society said the show will be great.

He said: “This year’s event will be brilliant and will be bigger and better from last year.

“There will be a competition for food, flowers and art and we’re hoping to increase the number of entries for this year.

“Good weather is planned so we are hoping to attract as many people and families as possible, we’re looking to make a really good event happen and the biggest event of the year for the club.

“Most importantly we would like to promote what the argricultural society does and to show members of the public what we do too.”

Other attractions will include craft stalls, inflatable fun, a dog show, and vintage vehicles.

Tickets cost £2 for adults and 50p for children.
