ANOTHER person has been convicted of drink driving following Essex Police’s summer anti-drink and drug driving campaign.

The campaign ran between June 1 and June 30 and 107 people were arrested.

Essex Police is publishing the details and images of people convicted to act as a deterrent to other people considering doing it.

Daragh Ward, 20, of Bailey Bridge Road, in Braintree, was arrested in Lakes Road at 2am on June 15.

He was disqualfied for 16 months, fined £253, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

Adam Pipe, casualty reduction manager, said: “Drink or drug driving is no laughing matter and those who do it put people’s lives at risk.

“We take a tough stance against it and I hope by publishing the details and pictures of those convicted, others will think again.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a little bit over the limit or a lot, drinking impairs your ability to control a vehicle or react to something in front of you.

“We will continue to bring drink and drug drivers to justice. If anyone knows someone who drink or drug drives I’d urge them to call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
