THOUSANDS of pounds were taken after a robbery at a village supermarket.

Two men entered the Co-op store in Hallett Road, Flitch Green, at around 10.55pm on Wednesday.

One man climbed over the counter and demanded money from three staff members. The other pushed one of the victims and threatened him with a hammer.

The stole thousands of pounds.

The victims, two men and a woman, were left shaken but unharmed.

Officers carried out a search for the suspects and enquiries are ongoing to locate them.

They were described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall and had their faces covered.

One wore a grey tracksuit, the other a black tracksuit. Both wore baseball caps and hooded tops.

They may have left in a vehicle.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the suspects before or after the incident, or saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the robbery.

They also want to speak to anyone who has CCTV or any other information that could help the investigation.
